Employees Satisfied With Their Job Roles †Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Talk About The Employees Satisfied With Their Job Roles? Answer: Presentation The accompanying paper centers around the reality of the various issues that emerged inside the association. The association picked to finish this task is Yellow Auto. This association has been viewed as the vehicle seller of the well known car organization, Renault. As Renaiult has a decent overall market and it overwhelms the majority of the areas in numerous nations, the equivalent goes with Turkey as well. The organization Yellow Auto was intended to help the clients who flourish for car industry parts. The clients have been expanding in the spot they had worked. The territory that they served was Bergama, which was an unassuming community close to Izmir, considered as perhaps the greatest city in Turkey. The condition was a lot of positive for the organization as they got great benefits. Later on, issues started to emerge and it influenced the efficiency and deals (Chan, Li Pierce, 2014). These things hampered the companys development rate all in all. The issues that emerged in this circumstance should be talked about in this paper. Recognizable proof of issues The Yellow Auto had been confronting numerous issues that had influenced their business in enormous manners. These issues had cause incredible misfortunes and hampered their benefit from multiple points of view. The circumstances turned so that the style of initiative of their top chief Can Sale. As indicated by the contextual analysis, the two children of the organizer Deniz Sale assumed control over the business and they assumed responsibility for the administration of the organization. The two children, Can Sale and Caner Sale had placed their declaration in the administration methodology so unmistakably that the choices and the assessments of the workers and the heads of different divisions were hardly taken care of (Blankenship, 2017). Therefore, some major issues had started to emerge inside the organization. The workers were not in the least happy with the manners in which they were dealt with. They needed more opportunity to take significant choices so they could legitimize their activity positions (Mowday, Porter Steers, 2013). The various issues that had emerged had its root in an inappropriate administration forms that was involved by the top administration specialist Can Sale. His little girl Asli Sale was given the obligation of the business chief after it was seen that she was deserving of working with individuals. These issues were of various types like social, mechanical and dependent on structure too. Social issues Here, the social issues characterize the issues and issues that emerged due to receiving a wrong authoritative culture (Alvesson, 2017). Any organization that receives a wrong authoritative culture experiences diverse administrative issues on the since a long time ago run. Toward the starting when Can and Caner Sale assumed control over the administration control from their dad, they had set up the structure and the offices in a decent way. They had utilized more representatives that considered up to 52 they moved their organization to Izmir. The various divisions that were partitioned between the representatives were general organization, deals, advertising, in-store deals, dynamic deals and numerous others (Tanner Raymond, 2012). These offices were intended to act successfully and make benefits for the organization. Sadly, the divisions couldn't help out one another and the Can Sale used to meddle all the issues with respect to any issue. The representatives and the chiefs had an absence of comprehension and correspondence between them. The representatives even circumvent Asli Sale and needed to work straightforwardly with Can Sale as they was already aware Can Sale would meddle in their works at a state of time. The in-store deals group and the dynamic deals group had a contention between them that additional fuel to the consuming issue of correspondence issues. The representatives were likewise not happy with the states of being of the distribution center and the workplace. They were discontent about the activity fulf illment also. The clients were likewise not content with the conduct of the representatives of the organization (Sirianni et al., 2013). Innovative issues There were some innovative issues in the association too. The activity jobs of the business group representatives showed them to make the calls to the potential clients and take the answers of the clients on note. These things would assist them with keeping a register of their advancement in catching the market. In actuality, these calls were of no utilization on the grounds that those calls couldn't be checked adequately. The standard calls were not helpful also since the whole database of the organization was predated (Cherry Jacob, 2016). The state of being of the association was exceptionally unhygienic and the warming and ventilation arrangement of the organization was not legitimate too. No mechanical help was looked for by the top administration. The stock control in the cutting edge times must be modernized yet this was not the situation there (Cherry Jacob, 2016). There were no PCs to deal with the stock control. Accordingly, there consistently appeared to be missing parts in the stock considers they were either lost or taken. Then again, save parts work force couldn't have the foggiest idea about the specific stock levels. The fix of the extra parts was deferred on account of these issues. Basic issues A few issues in the structure of the association were additionally being looked by the Yellow Auto. The organization couldn't suggest the best possible strategies for the clients just as for the workers. The structure was separated into numerous parts however the disarray had emerged between them so the contentions were there also (Hill, Cronk Wickramasekera, 2013). Yellow Auto couldn't keep the standards and guidelines directed by the Renault in the issues of money related revealing, consumer loyalty, accomplishing the objective deals and some more. They couldn't set their objective division advertises successfully that brought about the loss of clients. In the event that they had set those things appropriately, they would have set their intended interest group by their age, training and pay level. The representatives were not appropriately instructed for the activity jobs they were performing at that point. The business office turned into the adversaries of one another and somethin g very similar happened between the after-deal administrations and extra parts divisions. The change inside the organization started from 2001 with the assistance of the administration specialists and a group of academicians (Hayes, 2014). The change for good was consistently welcome and the workers would feel much improved if the conditions improved inside the association. The solidarity must be improved and the investment of the workers and the other departmental heads must be considered as proposed by the master tea. This sort of progress must be transformational as opposed to value-based. In the event that the representatives would be given the specific errands as indicated by their mastery, they would be profited profoundly (Belbin, 2012). It is nearly no doubt that the representatives ought not show any sort of opposition in the change inside the organization. The workers have been casualties of much treachery inside the organization for the despotic initiative of Can Sale. The representatives have for some time been sitting tight for an adjustment in the procedures that have been common in the previous years (Boddy, 2014). This would offer them the chance to do what they need and offer their considerations about the assignments to be performed. This free disapproved of manner of thinking of the representatives would be exceptionally useful without a doubt. This is the reason they have invited this change. There have been numerous advantages of working with the administration specialists as the outer change operators. Those specialists have a high level of capability to coordinate on how they could change the administration running frameworks to build up the conditions in this basic testing situation. This would be extremely fascinating to be sure. The specialists have sifted through certain ways about the approaches to change the administration procedure and improve it (Goetsch Davis, 2014). The improvement in the administration remembers cooperation of the workers for the dynamic procedure, the activity fulfillment of the representatives is a fascinating truth that the representatives are highly worried about. The workers will feel calmed as they will have the option to see their significant assessments (Goetsch Davis, 2014). Synopsis of the whole issue The whole contextual analysis has centered about the various issues and difficulties in the Yellow Auto. The progressions to check these issues have been tended to for the situation concentrate also. The various difficulties incorporate the social, mechanical and basic difficulties. The hierarchical culture of Yellow Auto encapsulates numerous deficiencies. The top administration specialist can Sale has not had the option to coordinate the methodologies in the correct manner (Goetsch Davis, 2014). The mechanical issues remember the nonattendance of PCs for the stock control. The auxiliary issues like the activity disappointment issues and different variables have been distinguished too. The miscommunication between the workers and the administration is likewise an applicable issue in the association. End The paper can be finished up by saying that regardless of endeavors from the administration, Yellow Auto has been running in misfortune in light of the various types of difficulties tended to. The administration of the organization will be in extraordinary trouble since they have coordinated their methodologies in the incorrect manner. The innovative methodologies must be very much coordinated with the goal that Yellow Auto can keep appropriate records of their new stock. The workers must be furnished with work fulfillment and the administration style must be changed from totalitarian to transformational. References Alvesson, M. 12 Candida Diet-Friendly Recipes That Youd Never Guess Are Healthy

12 Candida Diet-Friendly Recipes That You’d Never Guess Are Healthy Taking care of what we eat has always been important. Eating unhealthy foods leads to many various disorders that can contribute to some, even more difficult, diseases.Today, eating consciously has even become a trend. It is fashionable if you are following a certain type of diet. There is a mania of various new diets each year, all presented as the ultimate diet for this and that. There are upsides in this, though. People are reconnecting with nature and trying to find natural cures for certain ailments. There’s a cure in a vegetable, herb or meat, you just need to know what to eat for which ailment.Luckily, it has never been easier to come across those pieces of information, as all you need to do is Google it.Following a specific diet for a certain ailment has proven helpful on many occasions including digestive issues, detoxing, skin conditions, and even Candida.Note: do not start a specific diet plan before consulting with your doctor, if for no other reason, and then at least for being sure that you have a specific condition that requires a diet change.WHAT IS CANDIDA?Candida (many of its species, as there isnt just one) is yeast normally found in the peoples digestive system, mouth and skin.If the conditions are normal, Candida will just exist there without causing any problems. However, if the conditions change a condition called Candidiasis-overgrowth of Candida, develops. It can show as a skin rash, thrush in the mouth (whitish patches on the tongue), urogenital system, internal organs like spleen, liver, and pancreas, esophagus and so on.In itself, Candida is not dangerous; however, it can show as a consequence for other, more severe conditions. For example, people with diabetes are more susceptible to Candidiasis. There are various reasons (aside from diabetes) that can be the cause of Candida infection: weakened immune system (and any condition that causes it:  sleep deprivation, chemotherapy, HIV, other viruses and so on), gut imbalances (lack of healt hy bacteria-probiotics, leaky gut syndrome), inappropriate stomach acidity and so on.Many people, however, find that sugar-rich nutrition and stress are what is causing their Candidiasis. If you are wondering why sugar just remember how we prepare bread we add sugar to the yeast and sugar feeds the yeast so it expands- this all happens in our bodies as well.Stress causes gut imbalances, which, in turn, provides for Candida infections. In order to know whether you should consider Candida treatment, you should first be sure that you have it (CANDIDA DIET is pretty restrictive, so why put yourself through it if there is no need?).Your doctor should test you for it, and some people claim that there are legitimate home tests that can help you determine if you have oral Candidiasis. It is a very persistent ailment as it can return after the treatment, especially if the root cause of it has not been taken care of. In this case, you would be kicking the Candida out of your system by using an tifungals and following a special diet, but the Candida will come back as soon as you stop the diet because the main reason for the overgrowth is still there. WHAT ARE THE CANDIDA DIET-FRIENDLY FOODS?We have already mentioned that a Candida diet is very restrictive, so what are the foods you cannot eat if you are on a Candida diet?First of all, no sugar- in its refined form and even maple syrup, honey, and fruits which are rich in sugar. You should avoid grains as the carbohydrates break down into sugar, alcohol (also contains a lot of sugar), Gluten and almost all dairy products (except for products like Kefir which is rich in probiotics). What can you eat, then? It seems that there is a small choice of foods. In addition, being on a diet usually leaves you craving exactly that what you cannot eat.The basic rule is- keep the digestive system healthy. Probiotic-rich foods, fermented foods, fiber-rich foods are the way to go.Studies have shown that paleo or vegan diets have a good impa ct on Candidiasis, of course, some changes have to be made in order to appropriate the diets to the Candida diet plan.If you are a vegetarian, and not eating meat, you have to load up on nutrients from the plants. It is especially difficult with the Candida diet, as one of the main sources of food are grains and fruits that should be avoided. Here is a list of 12 tasty foods that will make being on a diet easier.1. Vegetable OmeletOmelet is a favorite breakfast food. It is rich in nutrients and is keeping you full for a long time it is great for the start of the day.To make it even more delicious you can chop up some red and yellow pepper, scallion (green and white parts), add some garlic (powder or fresh).Season it with salt and pepper to taste, fry and serve. You can make egg muffins with this mixture as well. Fill up muffin tray halfway and put it in the oven. The eggs will puff up and give you the same well-known omelet in a new form.Serve with kefir or guacamole. Guacamole will co mplement the eggs as avocados go well with them, and guacamole is essentially avocado, onions, garlic, and a little lemon juice and cilantro mixed together. This combination is a great breakfast option rich in healthy fatty acids and protein.2. Oven Roasted Chicken with VegetablesThis Candida diet food is an alternative to the good old chicken with roast potatoes. As potatoes are full of starch (Starch is a complex sugar, it breaks down to simple sugars in the digestion process and in such a way, feeds the fungi in question). It is extremely easy to prepare and you can play with tastes and textures as there is no wrong way to do this. You can take an entire chicken and put in in the oven on top of vegetables that will bake alone, or even fill the inside of the chicken with the vegetables. You can also choose to use only drumsticks or white meat, in a chunk or sliced and mixed with the vegetables. The outcome is delicious no matter what.As for the vegetables, use whatever you have laying a round, combine peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, onions, and carrots.Do not chop the vegetables too thinly.Add some oil, sesame oil for example, but not too much, and if you decided to go with chopped up chicken, use some water as well. Roast for about half an hour and it is done.Enjoy an easy, quick meal that will leave you feeling full and satisfied.3. Celery SoupIt is a creamy, heartwarming soup for cold days, or the days you need hearty comfort foods.Celery soup is made of a paste of the celery root or celeriac (pay attention that it actually has nothing to do with the celery stick plants. It has a taste similar to parsley, only a little sharper. So the soup can turn out to be on the scale of spicier soups. You would need to blend the celery to make a paste before you put it in the pot where you have previously chopped up (or blended) some leek, and fried it a little. If you would like this soup to be sweeter, you can add a paste of half an apple. For additional taste, add thyme as it enh ances the celerys taste.Season it with some salt and pepper to taste. Add about 1.2 liters of water, and cook until it reaches the desired density. This soup is great for helping digestion, and celery is low on starch so it does not feed the fungi you are trying to expel from your system.4. Vegetable SaladOne of the main principles of the Candida diet is keeping it simple. And what is the simplest way to go in this case if not with a vegetable salad? The options in front of you are endless. You can combine many vegetables that you like; depending on the season you can use various fresh vegetables.Add a little avocado or even sardines for a richer meal.Season with apple cider vinegar or a squeeze of lemon juice; add salt and fresh herbs if you like.In wintertime, when the fresh vegetables are scarce, you can eat marinated vegetables, such as kimchi. They are rich in probiotics and aid digestion. For meat lovers, there is a variety of combinations, just try to avoid adding something that is on the no-no list of Candida diet.Chicken, turkey, salmon, lamb or beef, combined with your favorite vegetables make for a delicious dinner or lunch option, without you feeling you are on a diet.CANDIDA-FRIENDLY MEALS WITH MEAT5. Chicken CurryIt can pretty much be your regular chicken curry made in a slow cooker.Thinly sliced skinless chicken chunks should be cooked, add some vegetables like red and yellow peppers, add quinoa seeds as well.Use coconut oil as it is very good in fighting fungal infections (taken orally, or applied on the skin or mucous tissue). For curry sauce, you can use an already made paste from a brand that you are familiar with and which guarantees that the product is gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free.It usually contains tomato paste for the desired density, so it adds to the variety of tastes introducing sour taste.Check the label just in case for additives and sugar. You can add a little chili powder or chop up fresh chili pepper if you desire a spicier taste. And, if you are a skilled cook, or you like your curry homemade, give it a try.Serve it with your favorite vegetable salad. Fresh cucumber salad exceptionally complements the tastes in the curry.6. Zucchini Beef MoussakaIt is a dish inspired by Greek food. The variety of spices you would be using adds to the taste and some of them, like oregano, have antifungal properties to boot.Peel and slice the zucchini in circles and place it n the pan in one layer.Put the sautéed minced beef that you have previously seasoned to taste like the next layer.Continue until you have made 3 or 4 layers of both, top with zucchini.Use battered eggs to spill over the moussaka before baking. For added texture, you can mix some sesame seeds in the meat, and sprinkle some over the top layer of zucchini.Bake in the oven until the zucchini is done.Serve with some probiotic-rich yogurt or kefir, or a delicious tomato salad.7. Salmon BurgersOkay, yes, you will eat it without the buns, however, the richnes s of tastes that combine together will not leave you unsatisfied, and you will not crave fast food if you are one of those people that enjoy an occasional burger. You will need salmon (it is a clear-water fish, if you catch it yourself, or purchase it from a trusted vendor on a market, you will be absolutely sure that there are no additives added to preserve the meat), garlic, parsley, sesame oil, some apple cider vinegar, chopped scallions and eggs to keep the mixture blended.Deep fry it in coconut oil, and serve with a fresh seasonal salad like lettuce or baby spinach.CANDIDA-FRIENDLY SWEETSSweet tooth, anyone? Usually, when you are on a diet and all you need to do is lose weight, you have to cut out refined sugar but you are still allowed to eat fruits. However, Candida feeds on sugars, even those healthy ones like fructose, so you are left with no desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth.Luckily, there are recipes for sweets that you are allowed to eat during the fight against Candida .8. Avocado Chocolate MousseChocolate is the ultimate guilty pleasure of many people. So how do you go for months without tasting any?Even the high percent cacao, bitter chocolates have sugar in them so you cannot cheat your way through diet. The answer lies in cacao.Avocado chocolate mousse is not exactly chocolate, as it only contains some cacao powder. You can add it to the mashed avocado as much as you like 1 to 2 tablespoons is a usual measure for one large avocado. For additional taste, add 1 or 2 tablespoons of coconut oil.It is great due to its antifungal properties, and it sweetens the mixture. If you need your mousse to be sweeter, use stevia as an alternative to sugar.Cool it down in the fridge and enjoy your guilt-free Candida-diet-friendly dessert.9. PancakesYes, pancakes. It is almost unbelievable that you can enjoy pancakes on a Candida diet. This all-time favorite breakfast food is within your reach if you make just a few adjustments.First of all, you will use coconut fl our instead of your usual flour.Pay attention to the fact that coconut flour is denser and in that way more difficult to cook. However, adjust the density of your pancake mixture. It is a learning process so you might have to add more milk or more flour until you reach the desired density leaving you with more pancake mixture that you have originally desired. However, that is not a problem there’s never enough pancakes anyway. For this recipe, you will need coconut milk, oil, and flour, some vanilla extract, eggs, and baking powder. If you like, you can add chopped up almond or nuts to the mixture as an alternative to blueberries (blueberries have little sugar in them, so it might be forgivable to put a handful into the mixture).Serve them while they are still warm, and avoid using maple syrup or honey. If you need something for the taste, try almond milk.10. Cinnamon CookiesA snack alternative that is not only delicious but due to the cinnamon it has anti-inflammatory properties.Onc e again, you will use coconut flour, and coconut, almond or cashew butter.Mix flour with butter, add eggs cinnamon, a little vanilla extract (pay attention that it is organic) and a pinch of salt. Use stevia as a sweetener. After the mixture is well blended together, shape the cookies, you can use a spoon or any of your favorite ways of molding cookies.Put it in the preheated oven to bake until they are brown.Wait for them to cool and serve, or put them in a bowl on the table so anyone can enjoy the taste and have a quick healthy snack. The nut butter and coconut oil are a great source for healthy fats and amino acids.CANDIDA-FRIENDLY JUICESAnd what about your daily dose of juices?Well, you can make vegetable juices that help fight off the infection.Due to the minerals and fibers found in fresh vegetables, you will also improve your immune system and digestion by aiding the process of eliminating the root cause of the Candidiasis in the first place.11. Tomato-Celery JuiceAll you need to do to enjoy this juice is to add the ingredients to the juicer or blend together in a blender if you desire a thicker consistency. What you would need is one large tomato, one celery stick, 4 large leaves of spinach and some parsley leaves. Wash the vegetables thoroughly and put them in a juicer or blender. The minerals and vitamins will make you feel energized. If you are feeling like you particularly need a pick-me-up drink with friends, make this juice in the evening time, decorate the glass with a celery stick and enjoy an alcohol-free Bloody Mary, the ingredients are similar. Cheers!12. Green JuiceGreen juices are rich in minerals and fibers and as such great for a morning drink, especially if you know that coffee is not allowed during the candida diet (if you really need that type of taste, try chicory).Green juices provide you with nutrients and give you that energy boost to continue with your day.Add coconut or almond milk to make a smoothie -it will keep you full for a long er time and it will be a great post-workout drink. For this wake-up juice you will need spinach, 1 cucumber, 1 celery stick, and half an inch of ginger and the juice of one lemon. Place the vegetables in a juicer and serve. The added ginger will help to fight off the Candida infection as it has antifungal properties that are scientifically proven. It acts very fast, and helping with Candida is not the only thing it does. It soothes inflammations, helps with nausea and immunity.USE OF HERBS TO AID CANDIDA DISCOMFORTHerbs are also an important part of a nutrition plan that is designed to fight against candida. Those herbs can be used as spices, added to the food and consumed naturally, like with oregano and cinnamon for example. However, they come in a form of oils that are used as supplements.Their use is not restricted to Candida only, as they have many beneficial traits and some can be used orally and externally as well. The most common for the fight against Candida are oregano, clove, m yrrh, calendula, and pau darc.Find them in a spice section of a supermarket or in a pharmacy.FINAL WORDThe bottom line for keeping Candida that is naturally in your body in check is leading a balanced and healthy lifestyle. You are now familiar with underlying causes of Candida, as well as with ways to prevent and treat it.Following a diet, as restrictive as Candida diet can be excruciating, but if you manage to kick it out of your system and improve your immune system, digestion and overall health of your body, you do not have to deal with it ever again.Keeping up with the process helps you permanently end the struggles with Candidiasis. This persistent fungus is not dangerous in itself, but its overgrowth causes discomfort you can get rid of if you are patient and as persistent as the Candida itself.Hopefully, these nutritious suggestions will make it easier for you to go through the treatment plan feeling on a diet as little as possible and enjoying your favorite meals.

The ocean sunfish is also known as the common sunfish, as there are three other species of sunfish that live in the ocean—the slender mola (Ranzania laevis), the sharp-tailed mola (Masturus lanceolatus), and the southern ocean sunfish (Mola alexandrini). The sunfish group gets its name for the fishs characteristic behavior of lying on its side at the sea surface, seemingly basking in the sun. Habitat and Range Ocean sunfish live in tropical and temperate waters, and they can be found in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans as well as inlets such as the Mediterranean and North seas. They generally stay within 60–125 miles of the coastline, and they apparently migrate within their ranges. They spend the summers at higher latitudes and their winters relatively closer to the equator; their ranges typically are along about 300 miles of coastline, although one sunfish off the coast of California was mapped at traveling over 400 miles. They move during the day horizontally at rate of about 16 miles a day. They also move vertically through the day, traveling between the surface and up to 2,600 feet below, moving up and down the water column during the day and night to chase food and regulate body heat. To see an ocean sunfish, though, youll likely have to find one in the wild, because they are difficult to keep in captivity. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is the only aquarium in the U.S. to have live ocean sunfish, and the fish  are kept at only a few other aquaria, such as the Lisbon Oceanarium in Portugal and the Kaiyukan Aquarium in Japan. Diet and Behavior Ocean sunfish like to eat jellyfish and siphonophores (relatives of jellyfish); in fact, they are among the most abundant of the worlds jellyfish eaters. They also eat salps, small fish, plankton, algae, mollusks, and  brittle stars. If youre lucky enough to see an ocean sunfish in the wild, it may look like its dead. Thats because ocean sunfish are often seen lying on their sides near the ocean surface, sometimes flapping their dorsal fins. There are a few theories about why sunfish do this; they often undertake long, deep dives in cold water in search of their favorite prey,  and may use the warm sun at the surface to re-heat themselves and aid digestion. The fish may also use the warm, oxygen-rich surface water to recharge their oxygen stores. And they may visit the surface to attract seabirds from above or cleaner fish from below to clean their skin of parasites. Some sources suggest that the fish wave their fins to attract birds. From 2005 to 2008, scientists tagged 31 ocean sunfish in the North Atlantic in the first study of its kind. The tagged sunfish spent more time near the ocean surface during the night than during the day, and they spent more time in the deep when they were in warmer waters such as  the  Gulf Stream  and the  Gulf of Mexico. BarrettMacKay BarrettMacKay/Getty Images   Reproduction and Offspring Ocean sunfish in Japanese waters spawn in late summer through October and likely multiple times. Age at sexual maturity is inferred at 5–7 years of age, and they spawn an enormous number of eggs. An ocean sunfish was once found with an estimated 300 million eggs in her ovary—more than scientists have ever found in any  vertebrate  species. Although sunfish produce many eggs, the eggs are tiny and essentially scattered into the water, making their chances of survival relatively small. Once an egg is fertilized, the embryo grows into tiny spiked larvae with a tail. After hatching, the spikes and tail disappear and the baby sunfish resembles a small adult. The lifespan of an ocean sunfish is up to 23 years. Conservation Status The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has listed the ocean sunfish as Vulnerable. Currently, sunfish are not targeted for human consumption, but they are endangered by bycatch. Reported estimates in California are that 14 percent to 61 percent of the fish caught by people seeking swordfish is sunfish; in South Africa, they make up 29 to 79 percent of the catch intended for horse mackerel, and in the Mediterranean, an astounding 70 to 95 percent of the total catch for swordfish is, in fact, ocean sunfish. The global population of sunfish is difficult to determine, since they spend so much time in deep water, although tagging has become more common. Sunfish may be a crucial part of the planets changing ecosystem under climate change: They are among the worlds most abundant eaters of jellyfish, and global warming appears to be resulting in an upsurge of jellyfish numbers. The biggest natural predators of ocean sunfish are  orcas  and  sea lions. Ocean Sunfish and Humans Despite their enormous size, ocean sunfish are harmless to humans. They move slowly and are likely more frightened of us than we are of them. Because they are not considered a good food fish in most places, their biggest threats are likely being hit by boats and being caught as bycatch in fishing gear.   Franco Banfi/Getty Images Sources Dewar, H., et al. string(134) " to the method using music and pictures, which took away from the boring learning atmosphere compared to other methods \(Lim 73-77\)\." Lilia Grabenstein Professor Lambert Hartman GWRTC 103 11 October 2012 How Does Music Therapy Affect Patient’s Psychological and Physiological Well-being? Many countries that you can travel to, have their own style of music that makes up their culture, which is incorporated into their lifestyles. Music was not only created around the world for enjoyment, but has been used as a form of comfort, a stress reliever, and a healer (â€Å"What Is Music Therapy? †). According to the American Cancer Society, in their Find and Support Treatment section, music therapy was developed in during World War II where it was used in US Veteran Administration hospitals to treat soldiers from suffering from shell shock (â€Å"Music Therapy†). We will write a custom essay sample on Music Therapy for Health and Wellness or any similar topic only for you Order Now From a personal experience, I feel that music eases my tension, helps me focus, and relates to how I am feeling. In addition to my personal experience and connection with music, I was curious to see how music can be even more therapeutic. I am interested about the profession of music therapy as well as the effects that it has on patients and people with disabilities. For my research, I decided to choose the question, â€Å"What effect does music therapy have on various patients’ physical and mental wellbeing? † I wanted to examine this question more intently, because I believe that music therapy can provide evidence for a new method of healing for people that suffer from illnesses including cancer, disease, and depression as well as mental disabilities like autism. As I started my research, I first wanted to find out what music therapy was and what type of audience it was aimed toward. The first resource that I found to steer me in the right direction was the Music Therapy Association website where I read, â€Å"What is Music Therapy? † This provided me with the basic definition of music therapy and how it aimed to help their patients. Music Therapy is defined as, â€Å"the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program (â€Å"What is Music Therapy? †). Here, I learned that the entire website is geared toward people who find it difficult to express themselves and feel strengthened by the music that the program is creating for them. For many years music therapy has been developing and helping to ease the pain of many patients ranging from various ages with illnesses and disorders. Specialized in this area, music therapists are â€Å"trained professionals who assess the well being of the physic al health, communications, and functions of client needs† (â€Å"What Is Music Therapy? ). Some of their main goals are to â€Å"promote wellness, alleviate pain enhance memory, and promote physical rehabilitation† (â€Å"What Is Music Therapy? †). The website gives you the opportunity to sign up as a Music Therapist, attend conferences for the program, and provides many stories and quotes about personal experiences with musical therapy. Although this website was beneficial to the start of my search, I knew I needed more to do more in depth research about my topic. I decided to expand on my previous topic so I searched the LEO Library Website on the JMU page for further research. Here, I found a book called Interactive Music Therapy, where Amelia Oldfield shares her experience from traveling to a Child Development Center where she conducted a study the developmental relationship on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their parents. Since Oldfield specializes in studying children with ASD, I knew she would provide quality information for me to include. For eighteen to twenty-six weeks Oldfield studied ten children and their parents by video analysis, semi-structured parent interviews, music therapy reports, and Parenting Stress Index questionnaires. After hours of recording data at the end of the study, nine out of ten parents felt the sessions proved to have a positive impact after participating in the program. The children resulted in increased levels of engagement, communication levels, playfulness, and interaction with their parents. Parents PSI levels all lowered, but it was proven that two pairs of parents PSI levels decreased dramatically. The video analysis data was not as positive as the music report, which proved to be more helpful in the study (Oldfield 157-169). After reading this excerpt, I gained more insight into understanding how interactions, communication, and even relaxation levels can increase based on music therapy treatments. At this point in my study, I knew that I had made progress in researching he topic of music therapy and how it increased interaction of children with ASD. I knew that I had to dig even deeper if I wanted to support my question. Oldfield’s study seemed like children with ASD were increasing their connection with their parents. I wanted to learn even more about how music therapy could potentially improve autistic children’s learning methods. In my next source, Hayoung A. Lim shares a perspective of children with ASD in the classroom. In addition to my last resea rch source, I decided to go to the library to further my research. I took about six books off the shelf, and one that stood out to me was Developmental Speech-Language Training Through Music for Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders, by Hayoung A. Lim, which provided me with another variation of a test on children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. In a study Lim shares, Carla Hoskins investigated sung and spoken versions of three standardized speech tests, which included a verbal test, verbal with pictures, and a sung version with guitar. This was used to see if it would produce better short-term memory. Through multiple tests with regular verbal talk, music, and music with words, there was a significant difference in learning experience of the children in each group. It appeared to be evident that the tests with the verbal music with pictures improved short-term memory, increased communication, created more focus in the classroom. The results of this research was the cause of enjoyment in accordance to the method using music and pictures, which took away from the boring learning atmosphere compared to other methods (Lim 73-77). You read "Music Therapy for Health and Wellness" in category "Papers" After reading this excerpt, I came to the conclusion that these tests and studies on children with ASD and delayed speech development started to clarify the first part of my question about the improvement of the psychological well-being of people. This information gave me a clearer perspective of how music and learning combined makes it more exciting, especially for children to gain knowledge about certain subjects. Besides children, I wanted to understand how music could also affect adults and teens. Another great article that I found on the LexisNexis Academic database was about how music therapy can be an â€Å"effective tool in enhancing the quality of life among cancer survivors and people suffering from chronic illnesses† (Wee). May Wong Mei-lin found the Hong Breast Cancer Foundation after she experienced breast cancer herself, where the Hong Kong Music Therapy program had professionals perform for patients. A breast cancer survivor that attended Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation, Pollina Ip Lai-chun, joined a program called Melody-in-Mind after experiencing depression after chemotherapy. She stated that singing lifted her spirits and she feels that she has become â€Å"more cheerful† (Wee). In Wee’s article, she included the four types of intervention in a music therapy session: performing including singing or playing instruments, composing, improvising, and listening. In addition, Wee included some studies in her article like one that was conducted in 2009 by the University of Maryland Medical center that found that, â€Å"Alzheimer’s patients who received music therapy experienced lower levels of anxiety and depression†. She also discovered a study from Drexel University by Joke Bradt provided that, â€Å"music can reduce anxiety in cancer patients, and may also have positive effects on mood, pain, and quality of life†. Lastly, another study included from Nature Neuroscience showed that listening to preferred music could cause the brain to release a dopamine chemical that improves our moods. This information created answers to my questions and even expanded on the side effects music therapy can have on the brain. This positive feedback made my research process look even more promising. After numerous amounts of research, I kept finding articles that discussed the improvement in psychological areas, but I was very adamant about learning if music therapy truly could help the physiological state of being for patients that had were in worse conditions of illness. If I could find more information about physical improvement, I could answer my initial question confidently. In some cases, I have heard that music can be a factor in curing sicknesses and diseases, so I was also curious to see if this information was factual. In my final day of research, a study that I read from the American Cancer Society called â€Å"Music Therapy†, included that in a clinical trial, musical therapy provided for cancer patients was proven to reduce symptoms like high blood pressure, heart rate, insomnia, and breathing rate. This information provides evidence that music therapy can help our physiological state. While reading this article, I found the author included that music did help short-term pain after surgeries, but a key factor that I noticed was that he stated, â€Å"there were no difference in survival rates† (â€Å"Music Therapy†). Soon after I read this, I realized that the method of musical therapy might help emotional well-being and decrease in levels like stress, but it would not actually cure a patient of a medical illness. After I searched through different data bases on the LEO Library, my eye caught various titles like â€Å"Music Therapy Cures Stroke Patients† and â€Å"Music Therapy Cures Cancer Patients†. However, the articles and excerpts I read were very short and did not have factual evidence to support the claims. With that, I have concluded that Music Therapy does not help our physiological wellbeing as much as it helps our psychological wellbeing. Although I could not find too much supporting evidence about the physical aid that music therapy provides patients besides reducing things like heart rate, the last article I stumbled upon provided a new angle of vision toward my topic. Although I found many article about curing illnesses, this story provided a unique twist to my research about the use of music therapy in a hospice setting. The article â€Å"Music Therapy Taken To Hospice Patients†, Sarah Pitts, a trained musical therapist, worked in a four-year musical therapy program at the Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Pitts brought instruments like drums, which helped release tension in children that had cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy. Pitts saw improvement in patients who had overcome strokes and had other similar impairments. She even played music for a family that requested here while the patient died peacefully. As Pitts simply played on her guitar and sang for patients, she was able help reduce anxiety in her patients and even a few patients became well enough to leave hospice (â€Å"Music Therapy Taken To Hospice Patients†). This article did provide evidence of physical improvement in relation to patients with physical impairments, however, not enough information was provided that signified dramatic physical improvement. After hours of research spent in the library and online, I found that the art of music therapy provides a healing power for people everywhere. Whether we are elderly, youth, or teenagers, we all can find a comfort while listening to music. The goal of music therapists is to provide an interactive atmosphere where patients can socialize and physically watch a performance wherever they may reside. In response to my initial research question, I have concluded that music therapy is beneficial in augmenting the intellect of children with disabilities, lowering anxiety levels, easing tension, and lowering heart rate, to name few. In addition, my research provided that music therapy alone doesn’t cure cancer and illnesses. There is a possibility that it has cured patients, but many studies that I read concluded that the music only eased short-term pain. Overall, I have found that music therapy has been proven to increase our psychological well being more than our physical wellbeing. I would have to conduct more research about music therapy and its capability of physically curing patients fully in order to answer my research question more accurately. Using Technology to Help Resolve Employee Conflicts free essay sample

Anonymous polling software allows company leaders to ask questions or lead discussions by embedding questions into presentations and enabling individuals to respond anonymously via a clicker or smartphone. The software instantly tallies responses and presents results in aggregate form via a chart during the presentation. Here are some of the advantages of this approach:†¢ Anonymous polling promotes open discussions: It might seem like a contradiction since anonymity is inherently non-transparent, but carefully crafted questions and the open sharing of combined responses lets everyone know exactly what the issues are. anonymous polling allows company leaders to define the conflict in clear terms and discuss alternatives.Anonymous polling gives every employee a voice: One of the pitfalls of discussions in an all-hands-on-deck meeting is that the conversation tends to be dominated by the most outspoken individuals, and they may not represent popular opinion. With anonymous polling through response technology, even people who typically avoid the limelight have their say, and employees can contribute their two cents without fearing repercussions from managers or peers with whom they d isagree. This information can be invaluable to executives tasked with driving consensus.Anonymous polling signals when consensus is reached: Just as juries tasked with reaching a verdict may take votes periodically to determine where members are, leaders who are attempting to create consensus on potentially divisive issues may benefit from a reality check in the form of an anonymous poll. It can also be helpful to take a baseline pulse via a poll at the beginning of the meeting and periodic polls to view how much progress has been achieved.Building Relationships: Building relationships can be done by adding employees to a group where people can work together, brainstorm ideas and ultimately to build relationships between employees. Issues can perhaps be addressed on groups by the employees as a whole. Knowledge of Organizational Management

Knowledge of Organizational Management Introduction Leadership in profit making and non-profit making organizations has been under study for the past one century. As a result, there have been various theories explaining effective leadership in profit and non-profit making organizations. Leaders have been defined as being individuals with lots of impacts on others to act in a manner that will ensure attainment of organization’s goal or objective.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Knowledge of Organizational Management specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More However, there has been no enough information explaining the application of such leadership theories in business setting. In addition, the strength and weaknesses of contemporary leadership models have not been exploited fully. As a result, this easy critically demonstrates an application of my knowledge of organization management by synthesizing the information from different readings and class work into work and life experience in organization management. Primary Leadership Theories According to Yuki (1994), â€Å"the main primary leadership theories used in profit and non-profit organizations are Trait Theory, the Behavior Theory and the Contingency Theory. Current leadership theories being researched are Transformational and Servant Leadership.† (Yukl, 1994) Trait Theory: this theory assumes that people are born already having traits which are inherited from generation to another in their lineage. There are some traits which are suited for leadership while others are not. As a result, proponents of this theory try to differentiate different traits in leaders who have been perceived as being great. They have tried to research on physical traits like the leaders’ height as well as psychological like temperament. At long last, their studies have proved the fact that there exist no universal traits of such leaders. However, there are some traits which were found to be of much significance for any leader. Such traits include â€Å"Adaptable to situations, Alert to social environment, Ambitious and achievement-orientated, Assertive, Cooperative, Decisive and Dependable,† (Science.jrank.org 2011) among others. On the other hand, the theory identifies various skills required by any leader in order to be termed as great. Such skills include, â€Å"Clever (intelligent), conceptually skilled, Creative, Diplomatic and tactful, Knowledgeable about group task, Organized, Persuasive, and socially skilled.† (Science.jrank.org 2011) Behavior Theory: it has been stipulated that, behaviors are significant for any leader. This is because; it has been assumed that, behaviors are very important as compared to physical characteristics or mental traits. Studies have found that â€Å"Two types of behavior correlate with great leaders, according to the theory: the ability to organize a task and the ability to express consideration for subordinates.† (Rowe 2007)Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Contingency theory: according to this theory, the most significant quality of any great leader is his or her capability to respond to any contingency that he or she is faced with. Some of these significant contingencies include â€Å"respect level, kind of trust felt by workers for the leader, the level at which the leader can organize any task ahead of him or her, as well as the control over reward and recognition processes for his/her subordinates.† (Science.jrank.org 2011) Servant and Transformational Leadership Theory: this theory states that, â€Å"leaders who are transformational have the ability to impact their subordinates by being examples and much inspiration by him/her-self.† (Jago 1982) Such leaders usually motivate their subordinates to an extent that they end up performing above and even bey ond their job stipulations. Servant leadership on the other hand denies leaders the privilege position, by giving them a responsibility position. This gives them the responsibility of achieving best possible results for the organization they are working for, the subordinates as well as customers or clients. Applications of Various Leadership Theories in Business Settings There exist no single leadership theory that has been applied in business, but in case there is a single application of leadership theory, no matter the process, leaders have brought success in business. However, the difference comes in the processes under which one brings such success. Successful business operations depend much on leadership theories. Such theories have been applied in casting visions, motivating employees as well as positive change implementation. Leadership theories like transformational and behavior theories have been applied directly in the development management of corporate culture in any org anization. In such a manner, such theories have been applied in training effective leaders in business operations to â€Å"produces productive systems, satisfied employees and a positive public image.†(Yukl, 1994) Leadership theories like trait and behavioral theories have been used in the creation of highly productive as well as enjoyable business settings. This is based on the fact that, they have been in a position to bring up leaders who have the ability of defining â€Å"business vision statement, goals and standards the company will uphold.† (Science.jrank.org 2011) These theories have been used to fulfill the responsibility of encouraging both feedbacks as well as change implementation. Such theories have been addressing conflict resolution issues as well as making wise decisions concerning business environments.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Knowledge of Organizational Management specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Leadership theories have been very helpful in the process of identifying leadership types in business settings. Some of these leadership types include, â€Å"authoritative leaders, who operate solely, making executive decisions that are communicated to lower-management and implemented throughout the company. Democratic business leadership relies on employee feedback and participation to make decisions and brainstorm.†(Jago 1982) Democratic leadership has copied more from transformational leadership theory by ensuring that business leaders are in a position of giving tasks to different teams, while still overseeing other tasks. Leadership theories like trait, behavior, contingency and others, have shown leadership qualities like integrity, communication skills in business settings. Leaders having such qualities have been exceeding their expectations, apart from living up to the standards of their expectations. Business leaders have applied such qualities i n effective communication both at personal and organization’s levels; they have also been in a position of foreseeing issues like success, apart from having the ability to plan for difficulties in advance. Leadership theories have been applied in business particularly in the creation of â€Å"an effective organizational structure, satisfied employees and a positive public image.† (Jago 1982)This is based on the fact that, Leadership theories have been responsible for combining systems as well as policies that have been established in any business setting. In one way or the other, apart from inspiring and guiding employees, employees have also find greater satisfaction as a result of â€Å"vision, direction and reward which produces purpose and fulfillment.† (Rowe 2007) Companies have used leadership theories in the process of creating public image. This has been due to well thought out external communication. Such theories have been in apposition of taking care of clients and ensuring healthy business relations. However, it should be noted that, the application of leadership theories in business setting is a growth process which might require continual training as well as development through seminars, reading books as well as joining network accountability groups. Strengths and Weaknesses of Contemporary Leadership Models Contemporary leadership models have the ability of developing visions as well as inspiring followers to attain a certain goal. As a result, their subordinates remain committed to the completion of necessary work for organization transformation. On the other hand, leadership models increases dependence on leaders. Though such leaders have the ability to attract followers that need inspirational along with energetic guidance, such followers might be convinced by leadership models to follow their leaders blindly. This is because; followers might place lots of emphasis on pleasing their leaders, other than attaining a long term objective. Such models can also lead to abuse and misuse of powers. It is true that leaders following leadership models usually come out of risky situations as they usually inspire their followers to take chances that might lead to innovations and creativity. However, such leaders may â€Å"use their powers to make positive impacts in organizations, some leaders exploit their totalitarian control by manipulating situations for their own gains. Subordinates may obey leaders without considering the long-term impacts as these leaders are so convincing and inspiring.† (Science.jrank.org 2011) Last but not least, such models are only based on theoretical statements, not putting into practice the real life managers as well as leaders undergo while undertaking their operations. Conclusion In conclusion, though there isn’t enough information explaining the application of primary leadership theories in profit and non-profit organization, this essay has provided at least some information concerning primary leadership theories used in profit as well as non-profit organization. It has also outlined how such theories have been applied in business settings. Apart from addressing the strength of contemporary leadership models in day to day leadership strategies, the essay has also addresse d their weaknesses. With is kind of synthesized information, organization leaders can achieve more in their organization, as compared to their job descriptions. References Jago, G. (1982). Make good writing second nature - Emphasis

Make good writing second nature Make good writing second nature A question for the drivers: how much of the drive to work this morning do you remember? The answer, probably, is not much, because youre so used to the process that you no longer need to consciously think about it. Its the same for learning any new skill, including writing. With sustained effort and attention, the skill becomes second nature. This is why we recommend to clients that they follow up their training day with a Coaching clinic, to reinforce the progress made on the course and follow up on any continuing concerns. There are four stages to learning a new skill, according to a model developed by Gordon Training International, and you have to go through each to reach the point where you can perform the skill well, seemingly without thinking. 1. Unconscious incompetence You dont know what you dont know 2. Conscious incompetence You know what you dont know 3. Conscious competence You know how to do it, but you have to think about it 4. Unconscious competence Youre practised enough to do it automatically. Mistakes are common at the conscious competence stage, even though you know by then what you need to do and how to do it. This is why we offer one-to-one follow-up coaching on all our courses. Before training, we gather writing samples from each participant and analyse them in detail, producing a graph that identifies and quantifies your individual problem areas. We go through this process again after the initial course to see where you have improved and what you still need to work on, so that in the follow-up coaching the trainer can work with you to iron out lingering errors. If you or your staff have been trained by us and would like to arrange follow-up coaching, or you would like to talk about arranging both, email us or call us on +44 (0)1273 732 888.

What can we learn from change strategies Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

What can we learn from change strategies - Essay Example is going to discuss how the programme of change affects the structure of the organization illustrating briefly the organization structure prior to change and the results of the change programmes. The paper will also discuss the impacts of change on the staff and systems in relation to motivation and engagement of staff and the new way in which they have to work following the change. Hill and Jones (2007) noted that the programme of change has positive impact on the structure of the organization as the changes are meant to improve ways of achieving the goals and objectives of the Companies. Strategic changes occurred in Asda Superstore in order to deal with new products in the market, increased competition, new government regulations, changing the workforce and technological developments hence the business was assured of success. Prior to the change the organization structure of Asda Superstore was simple since they had less employees and managers and hence running the business was easier. Changes had to be considered because the supermarket was struggling to increase sales and change in consumer habits that were driven by the increase in online shopping and low incomes among customers made it difficult to succeed. Change programmes were initiated after the demand of the products in Asda superstore increased and therefore there was need to change strategies so that they can meet the needs of the customers. Jansson (2008) stated that the organizational structure for Asda superstore was refined, their accountabilities clear, duplication removed and decision-making made swift and communicated transparently. The strategic changes in Asda superstore had a positive impact on the staff and systems, as they were encouraged to contribute to the success of the organization by being given a chance to share their ideas and being involved in the decision-making processes (Samson and Bevington, 2012). After the strategic changes, some staff members were motivated by being

Redwall Book Report Essay -- essays research papers

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Redwall is about a young mouse named Matthias. He lived in an abbey called Redwall. Redwall was a nice, peaceful place until a rat called Cluny the Scourge came with his horde and tried to take it over. The night before the citizens of Redwall knew that Cluny was coming, Matthias and Brother Alf had caught a giant fish that was big enough to feed all of the animals inside of Redwall so they had a big feast. When Matthias and Constance the badger were taking some of the animals who lived outside of the abbey home, they saw Cluny and his horde rolling past in a hay cart so they went back to the abbey to warn everyone. Cluny took one of the empty houses to use as his camp site until he took over the abbey. The Abbot agreed to meet with Cluny to see what he wanted but Cluny wanted Redwall to use as his fortress. Cluny said that the citizens of Redwall could surrender or die. The Abbot Refused to surrender and Cluny left to think of a way to capture the abbey. On his way out of the abbey, Cluny saw a tapestry of Martin the warrior. Cluny had a nightmare about Martin that night which made Cluny scared. Cluny had one of his men called Shadow try to sneak in to Redwall and try and steal the tapestry. Shadow is a half ferret, half rat and is completely black. Shadow snuck in without any problem but Matthias got in the way and ended up pushing Shadow off of the abbey wall. Cluny was waiting at the bottom and he got the tapestry of Martin and left Shadow to die. Matthias snuck out to steal the tapestry back from Cluny. On his way he met Basil the rabbit. Basil told Matthias he would help Matthias get the Tapestry back. Matthias snuck past the guards and Basil ran around the guards to get them away from the tents. Matthias heard someone calling for help in one of the tents so he went to find out who it was. It was the vole family. They had been missing since Cluny came. Matthias had to help them escape instead of finding the tapestry. While Matthias was out attempting to get the tapestry back, Cluny had launched his first attack against Redwall. Cluny’s horde tried attacking the abbey by slinging rocks at the mice on the wall and shooting arrows at them. The rats were losing horribly so Cluny came up with another plan. He had some of his army climb up a tree that was high enough for them to get up onto the wall. The oldest mouse in Redw... ...giving out meals to the soldiers on the wall, she saw the siege tower pop out of the forest right next to the wall. She was surprised and accidentally threw her lamp onto to the tower which sent it up into flames. All the rats ran back to their camp. Cluny had captured a family of field mice and sent the father in to unlock the abbey’s gates. If he refused, Cluny would kill his family. The guards let him in and later during the night, the father field mouse unlocked the gate. All of Cluny’s horde snuck into Redwall and tied everyone up. Just as Cluny was going to kill the Abbot, Matthias came back with one thousand sparrow warriors and five hundred of the Guerrilla Union of Shrews. Matthias fought with Cluny and ended up cutting the abbey’s big bell and it fell on Cluny. The sparrows and the Guerrilla Union of Shrews had more than enough animals to defeat the rats. Cluny had mortally wounded Abbot Mortimor and he was dying. Before he died he said that Brother Alf would become the next Abbot, Matthias would become the champion of Redwall and Matthias would marry Cornflower. All of those things happened and Matthias and Cornflower had a baby named Mattimeo. Kevin Frasier 4/17/05

Transportation Management

In the past, transportation management was a tactical concern – a necessary cost of conducting business, which does not have much impact on profit margins. Today, rising fuel prices and increased pressures for improved service have made transportation management a strategic issue. Companies have to meet and exceed customer expections if they are to be the preferred service and goods provider. A transportation management system (TMS) is an end- to -end software solution that is a part of supply chain management concerning transportation operations. It includes planning and optimization, execution, business intelligence, and freight payment. In addition, it also supports additional services, such as bid optimization, network modeling, yard management, benchmarking, and dock scheduling. Inbound and outbound networks too are supported on a global basis, typically helping companies to move freight from origin to destination cost effectively. In this essay, I will be using Sargento F oods as a case study. The focus of the essay will be on analysing the existing TMS solution adopted by the firm, identifying their areas of weaknesses and recommending strategies that will help to improve the transportation system to better suit the evolving needs of Sargento Foods. Background information Sargento Foods Inc. is a family-owned business, employing approximately 1,300 people at four Wisconsin facilities, one in Washington, and one in South Dakota. They are one of the largest converters of cheese in the United States, offering a variety of cheese products marketed through four business divisions: Consumer Products Division, Food Service Division, Food Ingredients Division and Culinary Solutions. Inadequacies of its existing system before the switch to Sterling TMS: Sargento was managing their distribution and logistics with a hosted TMS solution which was not able to meet their operational requirements. When Sargento Foods planned orders into shipments, the previous solut ion did not consider the cost, service or contractual commitments to carriers. It was not able to accurately allocate transportation costs at the order level. For example, accessorial costs were not being allocated. Recognizing the limitations of their current system, Sargento realised the need for a solution that would meet their current operational needs, as well as any changes they may face in the future. Solution adopted by Sargento FoodsSargento and identified IBM to be their provider and went live with Sterling Transportation Management System (Sterling TMS) in 2006, delivered on cloud, integrating with 30 carriers, shipping approximately 3,000 orders per month, and transporting 24 million pounds of Sargento products on average per month. Sterling TMS works with Sargento’s existing supply chain applications as well as IBM ® Sterling Information Broker ®, allowing them to improve logistics efficiency and customer satisfaction.Customers are placing orders via EDI, whi ch are then fed into Sargento’s SAP ERP system. SAP feeds inbound purchase orders to Sterling TMS as well as Sargento’s Warehouse Management System. Sargento uses Sterling TMS for shipment planning, execution and freight payment. They are now able to track the performance of their carriers, allowing them to identify areas where they can eliminate costs. They are also utilizing the system for visibility purposes and can now accurately allocate transportation costs to their customers. With Sterling TMS they can clearly identify where their shipments are throughout the process and confirm the right rates for the right shipments. They are also using freight payment on the back end after the shipment is completed. Key benefits: As Sterling TMS system is delivered on cloud, this results in fewer IT resource requirements, no upgrade costs, configuration instead of installation, faster and easier connectivity, and lower total cost of ownership using a system that spans the enti re process of Planning, Execution, settlement and Performance analysis. On time delivery Sargento Food’s on time delivery has always been 99%. With the implementation of Sterling TMS, on time delivery has improved. Lower cost with the implementation of Sterling TMS, Sargento has been able to lower the cost of product shipped per pound by 15 percent. through more efficient planning, clear identification of carrier costs and formalized contracts within Sterling TMS. 60 percent administrative cost savings by automating freight payment Sargento improved operational efficiencies by eliminating manual processes and non-value added services. In the past, if a carrier charged Sargento an incorrect transportation cost, Sargento did not have the visibility to correct these charges prior to being invoiced for them. Sargento would calculate the rates, but were often invoiced using a different rate. As a result, Sargento had a difficult time reconciling payments. Since the implementation of Sterling TMS, each carrier has a contract in the Contract Management Module of the system where their rates are locked and paid accordingly with no discrepancies. Not only has the system helped Sargento manage costs, the automation has reduced the manpower required to reconcile payments from 15 hours per week to six hours per week resulting in a 60 percent reduction in administrative costs for freight payment. Improved allocation of costs Accruals are done as soon as the product is loaded at the distribution center. The billing information is fed to the finance department and the accrual of transportation costs is done in real-time. Accessorials that occur during delivery are captured as part of the invoicing process and are also allocated down to the order level. This helps to ensure the real cost of freight is captured for each customer. With Sterling TMS they are now able to evaluate charges during the year to better determine what the customer charges should be the following year , taking in to account the back end fees that each customer was accumulating. This allows Sargento to accurately allocate costs back to their customers and helps ensure Sargento remains profitable. Reduced LTL shipments by 60 percent Prior to the implementation of IBM Sterling TMS, Sargento was doing 10 percent of their shipments via Less than TruckLoad (LTL).With the visibility provided by IBM Sterling TMS, they are able to convert more of their shipments into Full TruckLoads (FTL), with only 4 percent now being shipped as LTL. With enhanced planning capabilities, Sargento can now plan multi-stop and multi-pickup routes consolidating on average four different customer orders per shipment, for optimal execution and further cost savings. Recommendations to improve transportation management system: Improve on missing functionalities and international carrier network There is no perfect transportation management system in the market. While IBM sterling TMS is a comprehensive solution, h owever it does have its own inadequacies due to its missing key functional pieces( fleet management, multileg international shipment planning/optimization and execution, and multicarrier parcel management). To improve on this, it could partner up with other providers whose strengths complement and make up for its missing functionalities to provide a more comprehensive one stop solution for clients like Sargento Foods. Sterling TMS' strength lies only in its North American carrier network and its functionality is incomplete for the most complex users. The lack of a comparable international carrier network holds it back in complex global TMS management which could affect clients i. e Sargento Foods should the the needs of the latter evolve with increasing complexity, requiring a complex global TMS management. Sterling TMS would have been more competitive in the marketplace if it can replicate the scale of its carrier network in international markets. Special carrier mobile application Sterling TMS gives its carriers the ability to update shipment status and tender requests using mobile devices.Since the power of a TMS is directly proportional to the expertise of its users, vehicle operators should be trained so that they possess the skills to extract the maximum value out of the TMS solution. TMS to add social media capabilities. The communities of carriers, shippers, 3PLs, suppliers and customers who are involved in transportation process can be connected via different mediums like facebook, twitter and also google+ by sending short messages and updating the status information. Dropbox can be used for sharing invoices and carrier credential documents. Siri for TMS.Since voice recognition is in use in the warehouse management, Sterling TMS too can also make use of this voice functionality rather than manual execution to conduct a search faster. However at present there is still room for improvement in voice search yielding precise results. Tapping into big data B eyond merely tendering the system, Sterling TMS can also further develop systems that utilise â€Å"big data† that is collected during the transportation process and stored in the TMS by imbedding business intelligence into TMS so as to analyse the data to identify key trends in the market in order to make informed business decisions.Business Intelligence Business Intelligence helps to understand transportation expenditure and allow causes of negative trends in costs and performance to be identified so that corrective actions can be taken and enable the opportunity costs between service and cost trade-offs of different transportation strategies and tactics to be evaluated. Sterling TMS makes use of performance dashboards which is useful but does not provide Sargento with any insight on how its performance compares against industry peers or the broader market. The data only reveals information at hat instant in time and is not embedded within the TMS, which limits the ability for users to leverage it. 3PLs and SaaS providers are in the best position to provide this missing link as they have a built-in network of shippers, carriers, and other trading partners that execute millions of transportation transactions annually through their operating platforms. Therefore, Sterling TMS hey can use all of this network data—such as rates, carrier performance, and transit times to develop a â€Å"transportation index† that gives companies visibility to market-level trends. They can then embed this index information within their TMS application and BI dashboard as LeanLogistics did with its â€Å"LeanDex Transportation Index’’. CH Robinson and Transplace too are exploring ways to leverage their network data and TMS business intelligence dashboards in a similar way. Similarly Sterling TMS can tap on business intelligence to provide more value add to clients like Sargento Foods. TMS vendors will go beyond execution In its 2011 Transportation Management Report, research firm Capgemini Consulting outlined the various components that make up the execution side—as opposed to the planning aspect—of a typical TMS. One of the biggest trends we’re seeing right now are TMS that are trying to be more than just execution systems,† says Chris Caplice, executive director at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for Transportation and Logistics. â€Å"Basically, a TMS gathers the information on a load to be tendered and matches that data to a historical routing guide. Then it communicates to a carrier and manages the ensuing communication process† â€Å"The more advanced TMS is going beyond that and tapping into other information services and utilizing that data to help the shipper make the best possible decisions. If Sterling TMS can be connected directly into a market data benchmarking service that funnels data back to the system, this will positioning Sterling TMS to serve as mor e than just an execution feed. Customised software Transportation management systems offered by vendors like Sterling IBM should offer a flexible configuration that adapts to company’s unique strategies, network constraints and variables so that it is designed according to a company’s specific circumstances. With so many constraints and variables, transportation issues can’t be solved with a cookie cutter software that is generally used for all companies.Software designed should be personally customised for individual companies or may be customizable by users. The transportation management system should support a wide range of mathematical approaches, allowing the company to view the problem holistically and then constantly modify those approaches based on its current needs and requirements as the variables change. However, the cost of this may be higher and customisation would require the technical team in Sargento Foods to work togther with the software provid er to come up with a custom made software specifically designed for Sargento Foods. Also the assumption would be that employees of Sargento Foods would have the technical expertise to handle to complexities of the software. Instead this would increase the cost of implementation. While on demand solution (self service) is currently very popular and is functionality-driven; with the ability to deliver on all processes – from sourcing to planning to execution to costs auditing to reporting & analysis yet Only a few Transportation Management systems have the ability to execute with some functional depth in all areas. Therefore Sargento Foods would probably need to take into consideration whether IBM Sterling TMS has the ability and versatility to execute across all diverse functions through continuous review of KPIs and performance reviews as well as whether they are able to continuously meet performance targets. As circumstances and economic conditions are in a continual state of flux, a system that may be applicable now may beoutdated very soon unless continual updates and improvements to the systems are made.Sterling TMS has to continually invest in its TMS solution to ensure that it stays ahead of its competitors. Sargento Foods should also constantly monitor and tune its strategies to address changes in its networks, supply chain, market and customer demands and adapt its strategies to capitalize on market opportunities. Rather than just letting Sterling TMS solver run unattended, Sargento Foods must always look for ways to drive more value for their business by discussing with Sterling TMS should it outgrow its system.Managed TMS Some companies have discovered that investing in SaaS-based TMS reaped initial savings, but subsequent returns were not as rosy. The next stage in the development of TMS solutions, â€Å"is software plus consulting services, using a 3PL model. Should Sargento Foods adopt this new model,,it will be able to tap on the external e xpertise from the dedicated teams employed by a TMS provider often stationed permanently on-site and acting as an extension of the client’s staff. These individuals act as quasi-employees of Sargento Foods, Their relationship with Sargento Foods is ongoing and team members represent the client firm in various capacities. For instance , they are involved in customer meetings providing routine analyses and expert advice. The advantage of this is that the service provider( of the Managed TMS) has planners that do not have to go through a planning period before becoming effective as opposed to the traditional 3PL and secondly shippers like Sargento Foods do not have to worry about degradation in their planning capabilities if a key employee leaves the company. Some customers recognize that in Managed TMS they have a partner that can provide a totally integrated transportation management program—from brokerage through to execution and optimization in a one- stop solution. Sar gento FOods may consider managed TMS solution and outsourcing its transportation management and operations to a dedicated team from a service provide. this would perhaps more effectively optimise the usage of its TMS solution. Conclusion In conclusion, Sargento Foods would better manage its transportation were the above mentioned functions adopted. For instance, improving on missing unctionalities and international carrier network; using special carrier mobile application and social media capabilities; Siri for TMS, taping into big data, using business intelligence and analytics; going beyond execution and tapping into other information services, utilizing that data to help the shipper make the best possible decision; peronally customising software design for Sargento Foods; constantly monitoring and tuning its strategies to address changes in its networks, supply chain, market and customer demands and adapt its strategies to capitalize on market opportunities.Rather than just letti ng Sterling TMS solver run unattended, Sargento Foods must always look for ways to drive more value for their business by discussing with Sterling TMS should it outgrow its system. Subsequently it could consider switching to managed TMS should it require expertise from supply chain and transportation management to better optimise its operations.
